Restoration inquiries
A web inquiry begins a conversation. Photographs and descriptions help us assess a piece, but they cannot reveal every crack, previous repair, contamination concern, or condition beneath buildup. Before any work begins, we agree with the owner in writing on the particular piece, scope, estimate, timing, handling, and any shipping or handoff plan. Please do not mail a piece before receiving written instructions.
Preserving what is there
Restoration removes removable rust and buildup and documents the iron it reveals. Pitting and missing metal do not disappear. We do not assume a piece is safe for cooking based on appearance alone, and we contact the owner before proceeding if unexpected condition changes the work. The piece-specific agreement states how additional work or a stop decision is handled.
Shipping a customer piece
For an accepted commission, we agree on packaging, carrier, tracking, declared value, costs, and return method before shipment. Cast iron is heavy and brittle; both the piece and the packed box should be photographed before transit. A sentimental history may be irreplaceable even when a monetary value is agreed for shipment. Report visible transit damage promptly and keep the packaging.
Individual listings
Each inventory page depicts one physical casting. A purchasable listing shows the exact piece, its known condition, price, and checkout. Shipping charges, taxes, delivery estimates, and return terms must be presented before payment on the listing or its checkout. Contact us if a detail would affect your decision.
Educational material
Field notes explain identification and preservation using the evidence shown. An identification may be revised as better evidence appears. General guides do not replace examination of a particular piece or a formal appraisal.
